Creating life, first time
I reflect.
1st trimester
- The first few weeks were not much different from usual.
- Around weeks 6–8, it started to feel like classic first-trimester symptoms, including: headache, nausea (morning sickness is an incorrect word because it's even worse at night), tiredness, constipation, diarrhea, 1 vomiting incident (from eating beetroot salad), and eating some crap food (and not being able to eat fiber because of gas/bloating).
2nd trimester
- Mostly smooth sailing. Bump is very noticeable and getting bigger.
- Developed a habit of having to pee in the middle of the night a couple of times. This has never happened in my life before!
- UTI was the biggest issue; finished 2 courses of antibiotics. First incident, I felt a horrible abdominal pain on the right side and I could not walk properly. The symptoms started while I was in the office at the end of the day; I had to find a meeting room, sobbing on the phone while talking to 111. UCLH gave me antibiotics.
- At the end of the second trimester, we managed to go on a UK road trip with the dear van, walking up and down the mountains, averaging 20,000 steps a day. I was maybe walking a bit slower, maybe panting a bit more, but it was definitely doable and I felt quite confident being active still. The 2 weeks of good exercise lowered my resting heart rate by 5.
- Pelvic muscles took a hit, and I am having incontinence.
3rd trimester
- Caught a cold: congested nose, coughing quite a bit at night.
- Feeling a bit more tired in general than in the second trimester.
- (Ongoing...)
ETC.
Resting heart rate
Usually RHR is 55–60; it has climbed steadily, and now in the third trimester it is reaching 80.
Mood
Generally in a good, positive state! Mostly the pregnancy has not been too difficult, and I feel optimistic and calm. Nice and cosy time continues in the house with Jim and Bo.
